Larry van den Berghe Ph.D., C.Eng., F.I.E.E.

Larry van den Berghe is the Founder and President of Strategies 2 Innovate, Inc.,
an innovation strategy consulting practice. He has 20 years of international
experience in the aerospace and information and communications technology industries working in design
centres for British Aerospace and Texas Instruments (UK), Texas Instruments (Australia)
and the Institute for Microelectronics (Singapore).
He has been actively involved
in R&D and new product development in areas such as VLSI, hardware and software design
with management responsibility as Regional Technology Center Manager and Project Manager.
Larry has two US patents and one UK patent and a number of publications. He is a Chartered Engineer (U.K) and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
He is an adjunct professor in the Management of Technology @Distance graduate program at the Department of Management Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, University of Waterloo
where he supervises/coaches executive managers through their graduate research projects and delivers distant education courses on management of technological innovation.
His recent research on core competencies examined the adoption of new university technologies for product innovation within the information and communications industry of Canada
(see summary of research).
Larry developed courses in new product development, strategic management of innovation and technology, entrepreneurship and knowledge management while working as a faculty member with the
Technical University of British Columbia (now integrated with Simon Fraser University).
He earned a Ph.D. in Management Sciences (Management of Technology) from the University of Waterloo, a M.Sc. in Microelectronics (with Distinction) from Middlesex University,
London, UK and a B.Appl.Sc. in Applied Physics from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia. Larry has served as Chairman, Board of Directors for an international school and serves on the Education
Committee of the Saskatchewan Advanced Technology Association. He is a Competent Toastmaster and a member of a local Toastmasters International Club.
